*Joe “King ” Oliver was the leader of a  few

Creole and Dixie Jazz bands.  He was famous

for making his trumpet have different sounds

with the use of his derby hat, a plunger, bottles,

or anything else he could, coming up with the

wah-wah sound.   He was also the mentor to a

young Louis Armstrong, who said “Had it not

been for Joe Oliver, jazz would not be what it is today”
