Bix Beiderbecke

Piano, Cornet

Inventor of Jazz Ballad

Bright musical mind

*Leon “Bix” Beiderbecke was a musical phenom.  He started playing at age seven and

though he couldn’t sight read music very well, he had an amazing ear.  His solo in “Singin’

the Blues” help to invent the Jazz Ballad style.  He played with a the best orchestras

and met up with Hoagy Carmicheal and Louis Armstrong.  Bix’s style was diffrent

than Louis’ so there was never much comparison, however he was just as influential.

He also wrote some brilliant piano compositions.  Unfortunately he died young,

at the age of 28, but what a legacy!

Below are two examples of his work, enjoy them.
