I am leaving Savannah on August 5th to go on another road trip. My original plans were to be gone for a month with destinations in mind and be back in Savannah for a dear friend’s wedding. After that, the plan was to have no idea about anything and just see where the road would take me. I definitely want to see as much of the country as I can. I have only been to one city west of the Mississippi, and that was Dickinson, ND. I want to see and experience a lot more. I will be writing about my adventure and the people I meet in my blog. For those who want to help out and put me up for a night, I will make breakfast for you in the morning!
In some good ways, those plans have changed. My friend Wes, who directed “Ace in the Hole” has been submitting his film to Film Festivals. He asked me if I am in a particular area at the time of a screening, would I represent the film. Well, of course, that is a no brainer! I know he has submitted to the NH Film Festival in October. I don’t know if it has been accepted, but if it does, I will definitely be at that one! I will be at as many as I can for that! Playing music, working on my craft and attending open mics from time to time and gigs- if I can get them- is still the first priority.
There has been a new development in the past few days which may hinder these plans. With help from a friend, I was able to see an orthopedic surgeon and find out what is wrong with my ankle. I have been stretching it out, and working on a bike at the gym and nothing has helped. Well, now I know why. It isn’t tendinitis, as I was told by an ER doctor a while back, it is degenerative arthritis. You can imagine how frustrated I am about that….anyway. I have talked with him about options and also with the ortho specialist about a boot. The ankle is going to need attention- sooner rather than later, but we are looking at other things. Hopefully, we can come up with something to buy some time for me so I can take this trip.
This trip is all I have been looking forward to for several months. I felt the timing was right, and everything was falling into place. All that was left to do was wait for the 5th. As I mentioned, my first month is going to happen. I will be in familiar cities like Atlanta, Memphis, Knoxville. I will be in some new ones too, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and I would love to stop in New York! I also plan to go to New England and my hometown and see some friends, visit PMAC and perhaps sit in with my friend Russ’ band if I could be so lucky! I want to meet as many of you as I possibly can, so if you follow along and see I am headed your way, let me know!
